Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes green in line with Europe, Mota-Engil up 4%

Lisbon, Oct. 20, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Monday, with the PSI index rising 0.71% to 8,325.18 points, driven by civil engineering and construction group, Mota-Engil, which advanced 4% and BCP bank, which gained almost 3%.

Of the 16 companies listed on the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), 13 rose and three fell.

Leading the gains was Mota-Engil, which added 4.18% to €5.98, followed by BCP, which rose 2.87% to €0.76, and retail conglomerate, Sonae, which gained 2.18% to €1.41.

Also noteworthy were retailer Jerónimo Martins, which rose 0.69% to €20.54, and diversified energy producer, EDP, which advanced 0.27% to €4.45.

On the other hand, losses were seen in the subsidiary EDP Renováveis, which fell 0.15% to €13.45, Galp Energia, which lost 0.50% to €15.91, and PSI index newcomer, civil engineering and construction group, Teixeira Duarte, which fell 6.58% to €0.68.

Elsewhere in Europe, the main indexes in Paris rose 0.39%, London 0.52%, Frankfurt 1.80% and Madrid 1.46%.
