Lisbon, July 15, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed flat on Tuesday, on a day that featured gains of 2.64% by Mota-Engil and gains in some of the main European markets.
Of the 15 companies listed on the PSI, five closed in positive territory and the remaining ten closed in negative territory.
The national benchmark index closed unchanged at 7,707.37 points.
Leading the gains on the national benchmark index was construction company Mota-Engil, whose shares rose 2.64% to €4.28.
There was also positive news for the EDP group, with subsidiary EDP Renováveis advancing 0.79% to €10.26 and the parent company gaining 0.74% to €3.83, as well as Jerónimo Martins, which rose 0.63% to €22.52.
The paper manufacturer Semapa gained 0.69% to €17.42.
Going against the trend and securing gains on the PSI were CTT, whose shares rose 1.41% to €7.69, and Corticeira Amorim, which advanced 1.75% to €7.86.
Also among the losses and in terms of the PSI’s heavyweights, Galp Energia fell 0.98% to €16.13 per share, while BCP lost 0.33% to €0.66 per share.
The rest of the European markets experienced a modest correction, with Spain’s IBEX-35 falling 1.15%, the British FTSE 100 losing 0.66%, France’s CAC-40 losing 0.54% and Germany’s DAX losing 0.42%.
This performance comes at a time when the European Union and the US remain open to dialogue to avoid Washington putting tariffs on imports from Europe.
Meanwhile, Brussels continues to work on possible retaliation against the US unless the two sides reach an agreement by August, after US President Donald Trump also threatened Russia with 100% tariffs unless the two nations reach an agreement on the war with Ukraine within the next 50 days.
