Maputo, July 8, 2025 (Lusa) - The Mozambican Tax Authority (AT) has distributed 63 mobile phones equipped with stamp verification and tracking devices to goods control and inspection teams to enhance the authenticity of products such as alcoholic beverages, the institution announced.
In a statement seen by Lusa on TUesday, the AT said it had started using an electronic programme called “insight system” to track tax control seals, with the aim of ensuring customs compliance, including the authenticity of seals on these products.
The coordinator of the Alcoholic Beverages and Manufactured Tobacco Sealing Unit, Miguel Nhane, stated in the communication that this action comes within the scope of the programme’s technological improvement, which introduced a new generation of tax control seals, including digital ones, and adopted mobile phones as the main instrument for verifying and tracking the seal.
The same document states that the official warned of the need to redouble attention to the entry of unstamped products into the country, noting that “there are situations where stamps appear on the market on goods that have not been imported,” illegalities that “effective enforcement” can stop.
