ANSA's mission is important for the European Union, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said while visiting the top Italian news agency's 80th anniversary show at the EP building in Strasbourg Tuesday.
"This exhibition is a reminder of our roots and an invitation to defend what we hold dear: our freedom, our democracy," she said.
"And we could never do it without a free and independent press.
"ANSA's mission has never been as important as it is today" and this exhibition "helps us tell the story of Europe, its past, its present, its future".
ANSA's 80th anniversary was on January 15 last, 80 years after its first bulletin on the Allied bombing of Berlin.
