ATA - Albania’s consumer prices rise in June, inflation hits 2.4% – INSTAT

TIRANA, July 8 /ATA/ - Consumer prices in Albania rose in June 2025,
with annual inflation reaching 2.4%, up from 2.1% in June 2024,
according to data published today by INSTAT on Tuesday.

Despite the annual uptick, consumer prices fell 0.2% month-on-month,
mainly due to lower food costs.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages were the biggest drivers of the
annual rise, contributing 1.19 percentage points to the headline rate,
followed by rent, water, fuel and energy prices up by 0.36%.

Other contributors included: housing, water, fuel, and energy (+0.36
pp), furniture and home maintenance (+0.22 pp), alcohol and tobacco
(+0.17 pp), recreation and culture (+0.15 pp), hotels, cafés, and
restaurants (+0.10 pp).

Smaller upward impacts came from clothing and footwear, miscellaneous
goods and services, communications, education, and health. In
contrast, prices in the transport category slightly eased, subtracting
0.03 pp.

On a monthly basis, the biggest decline came from the food and
beverage group (-0.9%), followed by clothing and footwear (-0.3%).
Modest increases were recorded in recreation and culture (+0.5%),
housing and utilities (+0.3%), transport (+0.3%), and miscellaneous
goods and services (+0.1%).

The inflation figure remains below the Bank of Albania’s 3% target,
suggesting no immediate pressure for tightening monetary policy.
