Luanda, March 4, 2025 (Lusa) - Angola's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.4% in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to preliminary figures released by the Angolan National Statistics Institute.
According to the Rapid Information Sheet on the quarterly accounts for the 4th quarter, this positive variation is mainly attributed to the activities of Diamond mining, metallic minerals and others (44.8%); Transport and storage (10.4%); Fishing (12.2%); Electricity and water (6.5%); Trade (4.6%); Other services (4.9%); Public administration, defence and compulsory social security (4.3%), Agriculture (3.5%) and Oil extraction and refining (2.8%).
GDP in year-on-year terms grew by 3.6% in the fourth quarter compared to the previous quarter, according to INE.
The activities that contributed the most, in terms of share, and were important factors for the performance of the activity in the GDP of the 4th Quarter of 2024 were Extraction and refining of crude oil and natural gas with 23.8%; Trade with 22.1%; followed by Products of the Manufacturing Industry with 10.6%, Agriculture and Forestry with 9.1%; Fishing with 8.4% and Other services with 8.2%.
Gross Domestic Product in the fourth quarter of 2024 totalled 23,025 billion kwanzas (€23 billion), of which 259,451 million kwanzas (€268 million) corresponded to Taxes on Products net of Subsidies.
