Zhupa receives head of AA for Albanian and Macedonian languages: News agencies, at forefront of battle against disinformation

TIRANA, Dec 4 /ATA/ The Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) Director General, Valbona Zhupa, hosted on Wednesday in a meeting the Head of Anadolu Agency (AA) for the Albanian and Macedonian languages, Ahmet Nurduhan.


During the meeting, Zhupa and Nurduhan highlighted the cooperation between ATA and the Turkish news agency, Anadolu, and the importance of expanding news exchange in the future.

 

Zhupa said: "The expansion of this cooperation between ATA and AA, as the oldest agencies in the Balkans, is important not only for the real-time exchange of news but also for the role that official news agencies play in combating 'fake news'."


"The spread of misleading information on social media remains a major issue. Strengthening cooperation will be key in the fight against fake news, as official news agencies have always been and remain on the frontline of the battle against disinformation," Zhupa pointed out.


ATA Director General, Valbona Zhupa, added that "Social media has become a space for the spread of disinformation and fake news, which often mislead public opinion. Therefore, our goal is to provide truthful, unbiased, and accurate information to the public."


For his part, Nurduhan thanked Director Zhupa for her hospitality and expressed confidence that the two agencies will continue their cooperation going forward./
