He also highlighted that in 2022 Unesco created the Safe Spaces project to support displaced and diaspora journalists and keep public interest journalism alive in crisis situations.
‘We must also continue to promote collaborative journalism with the regional and international press to tell transnational stories because together with the families of victims of repression and human rights defenders, journalists are documenting truth and historical memory, as one of the pillars of justice without impunity for the restitution of democracy,’ he urged.
The IAPA launched Relpex in Costa Rica to assist journalists and media in situations of banishment or forced displacement due to persecution.
