Lisbon, Nov. 5, 2024 (Lusa) — Portugal's agriculture minister said in Lisbon on Tuesday that the Mar 2030 programme has more than 1,700 approved projects, with €189 million in support, particularly investments in fishing ports.
"More than 1,700 projects have been approved in the ‘Mar 2030’ programme, with support totalling €189 million," the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, José Manuel Fernandes, told parliament.
The minister, speaking at a joint hearing with the Budget, Finance and Public Administration, and Agriculture and Fisheries committees, pointed out that of this amount, investments in fishing ports, fleet modernisation, aquaculture, and innovation for small and medium-sized companies stand out.
In response to the MPs, José Manuel Fernandes said Mar 2030 would be at ‘cruising speed’ next year.
The Mar 2030 programme has a budget of €539.9 million, between the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and the national contribution.
69 projects have been approved for the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), particularly fisheries, representing 38% of the total execution.
These include investments of more than €31 million to modernise vessels.
