ANSA - Expo: Amanda Pascali's folk music conquers Italy Pavilion

US artist of Italian origin sings about 'country of immigrants'

U.S. Singer and song-writer Amanda Pascali's music is known as 'Immigrant American Folk' and her voice has conquered the Italy Pavilion's public at Expo 2025 Osaka.
The artist, whose family is of Italian origin, starred in hugely successful concerts held at the Italy Pavilion for four consecutive days.
"I am an American singer and song-writer; I was born in New York and grew up in Texas; I write songs that talk about the story of my family as immigrants in the United States", she told ANSA.
After her songs went viral on social media, the artist conquered hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide, singing both in English and in Sicilian dialect.
Some songs were performed in their original language while others were translated.
"I am happy because my new album Roses and Basil will be released in September", stressed Pascali.
The album is a "collection of Sicilian folk songs and original songs I have written" and "two singles are already out - 'Wake Up Baby (E vui durmiti ancora)' and 'Amuri'", she explained.
After travelling to Japan in June to perform nearly every day at the USA Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, the artist participated in four days of concerts at the Italy Pavilion where she also sang songs by Fabrizio De André, Mina and Ornella Vanoni, in cooperation with guitar Duo 'Striago'.
The duo's members, who are originally from the Italian Emilia Romagna region, have been performing a repertoire mixing Latin American and classical music for the past decade.
"It is a pleasure to have the opportunity of presenting to the Japanese public my vision of America - a country of immigrants full of languages and artistic influences from all over the world", explained Amanda Pascali.
