Lusa - Business News - Cabo Verde: Airline reschedules flights cancelled due to 'technical' problems

Praia, July 2, 2024 (Lusa) - The state-owned company Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde (TACV) has announced that it will reschedule the flights it cancelled on Monday due to "technical problems".

The cancelled flights "are being rescheduled" for this Tuesday and the company is asking all affected passengers to check their email.

On Monday, the airline cancelled all flights between the Cabo Verde islands, without giving any information, prompting anger and complaints from numerous people at Praia Nelson Mandela International Airport.

In a press release sent out at the end of the day, the company said that the flights had been cancelled "due to technical problems with one of the aircraft", but did not specify.

Meanwhile, international flights continued "to operate without any irregularities", the same source emphasised.

TACV, which operates under the trade name Cabo Verde Airlines, is the only company to operate domestic flights in the archipelago, which it resumed in February, almost seven years after it stopped operating them.

But since then the failures have been repeated and Monday's scenario was the latest in a chronic transport crisis in the archipelago.

The government has repeated promises to create reliable and regular connections between islands, but so far without solutions.

Investors and partners have pointed out that the lack of a strategy for the domestic flights sector is a serious constraint on the country's development.
