Lisbon, Oct. 1, 2026 (Lusa) - Mota-Engil Brasil signed a concession contract on Thursday for more than 500 kilometres of motorways between Bahia and Pernambuco, worth around €700 million.

«The 30-year concession covers approximately 502 kilometres of the BR-116/BA, BR-116/PE and BR-324/BA motorways, providing a link between the Feira de Santana Ring Road, in the state of Bahia, and Salgueiro, in the state of Pernambuco», according to the statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

Mota-Engil holds a 33% stake in the 116 Sertões Consortium, alongside Nova Infra Investimentos, with 34%, and Galápagos Participações, with 33%, under a contract that «provides for a total estimated investment of around 4.1 billion reais (around €700 million), including the widening of approximately 108 kilometres of roads, the construction of around 5 kilometers of additional lanes and 45 kilometers of service roads, as well as works aimed at resurfacing, improving road safety, modernising operational systems and increasing the corridor's capacity».

In the press release, Mota-Engil also states that with this contract award, «it is strengthening its presence in the Brazilian road concessions market, consolidating its order book in Latin America and continuing to diversify its project portfolio, ensuring a sustainable revenue stream in the medium and long term».
