Lisbon, July 29, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Wednesday, with the PSI falling 0.93% to 9,049.41 points, on a day when EDP Renewables fell by more than 3% following the release of its results.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, 11 closed in the red and the remaining five in the green.
Leading the fallers was Teixeira Duarte, which dropped 4.38% to €0.48, followed by EDP Renewables, which fell 3.54% to €13.36, on the day it reported its results for the first half of the year to the market.
The company posted profits of €184 million in the first half of the year, up 96% on the same period in 2025.
BCP also recorded losses of over 3%, closing down 3.14% at €1.02, shortly before announcing that its profits had grown by 12.7% until June, compared with the same period last year, to €565.8 million.
Meanwhile, REN, which fell 2.61% to €3.54, Semapa, which dropped 2.21% to €19.90, and Mota-Engil, which also fell 2.21% to €4.52, all recorded losses of more than 2%.
EDP, which fell by 1.49% to €4.44, and Altri, which lost 1.04% to €4.75, both recorded declines of more than 1%.
Galp Energia and CTT were the main companies preventing more significant losses in the national benchmark index.
The oil company's shares rose by 3.55% to €20, driven by rising oil prices.
CTT, meanwhile, advanced by 1.52% to €6, after announcing a fall in profits.
CTT's profit fell by 41.6% in the first half of the year compared with the same period in 2025, to €12.9 million, influenced by a reduction in EBIT and changes in financial results, the postal service announced on Tuesday after the market closed.
On the other major European markets, Spain's IBEX-35 lost 1.59%, France's CAC-40 fell by 0.60% and Germany's DAX dropped by 0.01%.
By contrast, the UK's FTSE 100 rose by 0.34%.
