Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks trading in the red with benchmark index down 0.19%

Lisbon, July 6, 2026 (Lusa) - The main Portuguese stock market index, the PSI, was continuing the trend seen at the opening and remained in cautious territory, down 0.19% about an hour and a half after the market opened.

At around 9:30 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI continued its opening trend, trading at 9,310.96 points, with 12 shares down, three up, and BCP unchanged at €1.07.

EDP led the decline, falling by 1.49% to €4.62, followed by NOS and EDP Renewables, which fell by 1.21% to €4.99 and 1.04% to €14.22, respectively, as the only stocks with losses exceeding 1%.

Teixeira Duarte fell by 0.74% to €0.54, Corteira Amorim dropped by 0.62% to €6.46, and CTT lost 0.58% to €6.04.

Shares in Sonae (down 0.47% to €2.11), Navigator (down 0.42% to €3.29) and Ibersol (down 0.41% to €9.76) also continued to fall.

Jerónimo Martins, Mota-Engil and Altri recorded smaller losses, falling by 0.36% to 16.54 euros, 0.33% to 4.80 euros and 0.10% to 4.81 euros, respectively.

Conversely, Semapa gained 1.20% to €21.05, Galp rose 0.84% to €19.13, and REN climbed 0.26% to €3.81.

The main European stock exchanges opened mostly higher on Monday, whilst awaiting corporate results expected to reach record highs.

Investors are awaiting Tuesday’s results from South Korea’s Samsung, which is expected to see its profit increase 18-fold in the second quarter of the year, whilst its compatriot SK Hynix goes public this week. SpaceX is also set to join the Nasdaq on Tuesday.

Wall Street, which resumes trading today following Friday’s early close ahead of the 4 July bank holiday, saw its futures fall by 0.07% on the Dow Jones and drop by 0.26% and 0.87% on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, respectively.

The price of a barrel of Brent crude, the benchmark for Europe, for September delivery fell by 0.06% and was trading at $72.08, whilst WTI rose by 0.12% to $68.77.

The week beginning today marks the start of the second-quarter earnings season for US-listed companies, a period which is expected to gather momentum from 14 July onwards with the release of investment banking results.
