Lusa - Business News - Portugal: PSI at 16-year high with Teixeira Duarte gaining 2.33%

Lisbon, Feb. 4, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading higher on Wednesday morning, with the PSI rising to a new high since January 2010, led by Teixeira Duarte shares, which rose 2.33% to €0.48.

At around 9:40 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI maintained its opening trend and rose 0.15% to a new 16-year high of 8,841.80 points, with 10 stocks rising, five falling and one remaining unchanged (REN at €3.50).

Teixeira Duarte shares were followed by Mota-Engil, Jerónimo Martins and NOS, which rose 1.92% to €4.66, 1.19% to €20.36 and 1% to €4.56, respectively.

Following the same trend, Ibersol, Galp and Altri shares rose 0.94% to €10.75, 0.59% to €17.05 and 0.45% to €4.44.

The other two shares that gained value were Sonae (+0.44% to €1.82), Navigator (+0.43% to €3.24) and EDP (+0.05% to €4.34).

In contrast, EDP, CTT and Semapa shares fell 0.61% to €13.12, 0.29% to €6.94 and 0.22% to €22.55.

Corticeira Amorim and BCP shares fell 0.15% to €6.77 and 0.11% to €0.94.

The main European stock markets opened mixed today, ahead of the European Central Bank (ECB) and Bank of England monetary policy meetings, which are expected to keep key rates unchanged on Thursday.

In Europe, January's eurozone CPI data will be released today, a key indicator for expectations of the interest rates the ECB is likely to adopt.

In terms of commodities, the price of gold rose 3.61%, while silver also advanced 8.19%.

Wall Street futures, after closing lower on Tuesday, point to gains of 0.28% for the Dow Jones Industrial and 0.17% for the Nasdaq.

In the commodities market, Brent, the benchmark European crude oil for April delivery, fell to $67.13, down from $67.35 in the previous session.

The euro advanced to $1.1828 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market, compared to $1.1816 on Tuesday and $1.1980 on 27 January, a new high since June 2021.
