Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark index up 0.11%, Galp up 3%

Lisbon, Jan. 28, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Wednesday, with the PSI index rising 0.11% to 8,663.41 points, bucking the negative trend seen in the main European markets, driven by a 3% rise in energy company Galp.

Of the 16 companies included in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), seven closed in positive territory and nine in negative territory.

Leading the gains was Galp Energia, which rose 3.02% to €16.39, followed by Semapa, which rose 1.83% to €22.25, and Nos, which advanced 1.27% to €4.29.

Also noteworthy were EDP, which gained 0.44% to €4.35, and Navigator, which rose 0.25% to €3.23.

In the opposite direction, among the fallers were Teixeira Duarte, which lost 1.61% to €0.49, as well as Mota-Engil, which fell 1.40% to €4.38, and EDP Renováveis, which fell 1.31% to €12.78.

Also noteworthy were index heavyweight, BCP, which fell 0.78% to €0.91, and Altri, which fell 0.34% to €4.45.

Among the main European stock markets, Spain's Ibex 35 fell 1.10%, Britain's FTSE 100 lost 0.52% and France's CAC-40 fell 1.06%, while Germany's DAX fell 0.29%.
