Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes down 0.54%, Teixeira Duarte plummeting almost 5%

Lisbon, Jan. 23, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark PSI index falling 0.54% to 8,557.86 points, with Teixeira Duarte losing almost 5%.

Among the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (the Portuguese Share Index), 11 fell and five rose.

Leading the declines was the civil engineering and construction company Teixeira Duarte, which lost 4.96% to €0.54.

Among the main decliners were fellow civil engineering and construction group, Mota-Engil, which fell 3.24% to €4.48, retailer Jerónimo Martins, which ended the day down by1.94% to €20.22, the postal service and bank operator, CTT, which lost 1.87% to €6.83, EDP Renováveis, which fell by 1.39% less to €12.80, BCP bank, which fell by 1.29% to €0.89, and paper and pulp manufacturer, Navigator, which fell 1.17% to €3.21.

With declines of less than 1% were retailer Sonae SGPS (€1.75), Altri (€4.49), Semapa (€21.85) and Corticeira Amorim (€6.81).

In the opposite direction, leading the gains was the electricity and gas network manager REN, which rose 1.98% to €3.36.

Also noteworthy are telecoms operator, NOS SGPS, which grew 1.51% to €4.38, and oil company Galp, which increased 1.46% to €15.94.

With gains below 1% were restaurant and caterer, Ibersol (€10.45) and electricity producer, EDP (€4.21).

In the rest of Europe, the main indexes in Madrid retreated 0.67%, London 0.07%, and Paris also 0.07%, while Frankfurt advanced 0.18%.
