ATA - Consumer prices rise modestly, December inflation at 2.3%

TIRANA, Jan 9 /ATA/ - Consumer prices in Albania rose 2.3% year-on-year in December 2025, up from 2.1% in the same month a year earlier, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).

On a monthly basis, prices increased 0.7% compared with November 2025, while the average annual rise for 2025 was 2.2%, unchanged from 2024.

The largest contributions to inflation came from “Rent, water, fuel and energy” (0.96 points) and “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” (0.56 points).

Other notable contributors included “Furniture and household maintenance” (0.16 points) and “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” (0.15 points).

Year-on-year, the highest price increases were in “Rent, water, fuel and energy” (4.8%), “Recreation and culture” (3.6%), and “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” (2.6%). Within food, the biggest rises were in “Milk, cheese and eggs” (4.4%), “Fish” and “Oils and fats” (3.8% each), and “Meat” (2.3%).
