Lisbon, Jan. 9, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market continued to rise on Friday, maintaining the opening trend, despite more than half of the stocks showing losses compared to the start of the session.
At 9:30 a.m. in Lisbon, the main Portuguese index, the PSI, was up 0.11% to 8,495.96 points.
Altri was the biggest gainer, advancing 1.57% to €4.53 per share, followed by Galp, with gains of 1.34% to €15.13.
More modest gains were seen by BCP (0.68% to €0.89), Corticeira Amorim (0.44% to €6.85), EDP (0.27% to €4.07) and Semapa (0.23% to €21.35).
At the same time, EDP Renováveis and Ibersol maintained their opening prices at €12.69 and €9.90, respectively.
Conversely, Mota-Engil was the biggest loser, falling 1.26% to €5.09.
Teixeira Duarte fell 0.93% to 0.64 euros per share, CTT fell 0.67% to €7.46 and Navigator fell 0.62% to €3.22.
Lower variations were seen in NOS (-0.49% to €4.09), Sonae (-0.36% to €1.67), REN (-0.30% to €3.35) and Jerónimo Martins (-0.10% to €20.94).
The main European stock markets were trading higher today, while awaiting developments on the meeting between the United States and oil companies on Venezuela and unemployment data.
The Brent barrel, the benchmark for Europe, rose 1.15% to $69.29 and WTI, the benchmark for the US, advanced 1.33% to $58.53.
Gold repeated the previous day's trend and fell 0.10% to €4,473.5 per ounce, while silver rose 0.79% and recovered from the fall of recent days to $77.6 per ounce.
The euro, meanwhile, fell 0.13% to $1.164, and bitcoin fell 0.54% to $90,708.1.
On Thursday, Wall Street closed directionless, with the broad S&P 500 advancing 0.01%, the tech-heavy Nasdaq falling 0.55%, and the Dow Jones gaining 0.55%.
