Lisbon, Dec. 24, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher this Wednesday in a session shortened by Christmas Eve, with the PSI index gaining 0.17% to 8,183.11 points, driven by Semapa, which rose 5.77%.
Of the 16 companies that are part of the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index) nine rose, five fell, and Jerónimo Martins and Ibersol remained unchanged from the opening, at €20.08 and €9.90.
Semapa led the gains, rising 5.77% to €22.00, the only one with a variation above one percentage point.
Last week, the investment company announced the sale of its holding in the cement company Secil to its Spanish counterpart Molins for €1.4 billion. Semapa's share price has risen more than 29% since the announcement.
Navigator, Altri and CTT also posted gains at the end of the session, rising 0.85% to €3.09, 0.80% to €4.39 and 0.54% to €7.38, respectively.
EDP Renováveis rose 0.42% to €11.83, Teixeira Duarte advanced 0.31% to €0.64, Nos gained 0.13% to €3.99, and BCP rose 0.04% to €0.89.
In the opposite direction, Galp lost the most, falling 0.66% to €14.30.
Lower losses were seen in REN (-0.47% to €3.18), Corticeira Amorim (-0.30% to €6.62), Mota-Engil (-0.20% to €5.01) and EDP (-0.16% to €3.86).
Elsewhere in Europe, the main indexes in London fell 0.19%, Madrid fell 0.06% and Paris remained unchanged from the opening.
