ALGIERS, 08 December 2025 (APS) - The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, emphasized that the Algiers Declaration on Fair, Safe, and Responsible Digital Platforms in Africa, adopted on Sunday in Algiers, underscored the continent’s ability to develop common positions and influence global digital governance rules.
The minister spoke during the closing of the "Africa In" event, held on the sidelines of the 4th African Startup Conference, in the presence of the Principal Private Secretary at the Presidency of the Republic, Boualem Boualem; the Advisor to the President of the Republic, in charge of the General Directorate of Communication, Kamel Sidi Said, the Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah; the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, Kamel Moula, as well as ministers and representatives from the innovation and startup sectors of several African countries.
Zerrouki said that the "Algiers Declaration" on Fair, Safe, and Responsible Digital Platforms in Africa, adopted under the aegis of the African Union of Telecommunications (AUT), represents a unified African message, establishing a common vision for a safe, responsible, and equitable digital space.
He emphasized that Africa is capable of formulating common positions and influencing global digital governance.
"Under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria, on this symbolic day, affirms that when Africa unifies its stance, its voice is heard and respected," he said.
