Lusa - Business News - Macau: Casino takings until November almost same as all of 2024

Macau, China, Dec. 1, 2025 (Lusa) - Macau casino revenues rose 14.4% in November compared to the same period in 2024, with the cumulative figure for the first 11 months almost reaching the total for the whole of 2024, it was announced on Monday.

The gaming sector collected 21.1 billion patacas (€2.28 billion) in November, after recording its highest monthly revenue since October 2019 (24.1 billion patacas, or €2.6 billion) in the previous month, according to the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

Cumulative gross revenue for the 11 months of the year amounts to 226.5 billion patacas (€24.4 billion), slightly below the 226.8 billion patacas (€24.5 billion) collected in the whole of 2024.

Compared to the same period last year, the accumulated revenue between January and November of the current year represents an increase of 8.6% over the 208.6 billion patacas (€22.5 billion) collected in the first eleven months of 2024.

In its initial budget for 2025, the Macau Government predicted that the year would close with total revenues of 240 billion patacas (€25.9 billion), representing an increase of 6% compared to last year.

On 11 June, however, the government had parliament approve an amended budget, which reduces the initial revenue forecast by 4.56 billion patacas (€492.7 million).

The sector's performance to date, which accounts for 83.3% of the region's public revenue, suggests that gross gaming revenue growth in 2025 will be well above the estimate in the first budget.

The world's gambling capital, Macau is the only place in China where casino gambling is legal.

Six concessionaires operate in the territory: MGM, Galaxy, Venetian, Melco, Wynn and SJM, which renewed their concession contract for the next ten years in December 2023, effective 1 January 2024.
