Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks closing lower with index falling 1.44% to 8,194.68 points

Lisbon, Nov. 11, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed on Tuesday with the PSI falling 1.44% to 8,194.68 points, with EDP losing 6.20% after Canada's pension fund announced the sale of 5.2% of its capital.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the PSI, 11 went down and five went up.

Leading the declines was EDP, which lost 6.20% to €3.72.

The Canadian pension fund notified EDP today of the sale of 5.2% of the company's capital for €814.7 million, the energy company said in a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

In the statement, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board said it had "successfully completed the sale, by way of a private placement through an accelerated “bookbuild” directed exclusively at qualified institutional investors, of 218,488,895 shares representing approximately 5.2% of EDP's share capital".

"The total gross proceeds of the placement totalled approximately 814,745,089 euros, corresponding to a price of €3.729 per share," he said.

China Three Gorges is EDP's main shareholder, with 21.4% of the capital, followed by Oppidum Capital S.L., with 6.82%, and Blackrock Inc, with 6.08%, according to the company's website.

Also notable in today's stock market session were Teixeira Duarte, which fell 4.47% to €0.68, EDP Renováveis, which fell 3.92% to €11.53, Mota-Engil, which fell 2.36% to €5.78, NOS, which dropped 1.50% to €3.62, CTT, which fell 1.48% to €7.32 and REN, which fell 1.17% to €3.36.

With falls of less than 1% were Sonae SGPS (€1.43), BCP (€0.79), Altri (€4.86) and Semapa (€17.78).

In the opposite direction, leading the way was Galp, which gined 2.36% to €17.98, followed by Corticeira Amorim, which rose 1.07% to €6.62.

Gaining less than 1% were Ibersol (€10.30), Jerónimo Martins (€21.96) and Navigator (€3.05).

In the rest of Europe, Madrid rose 1.27%, Paris 1.25%, London 1.15% and Frankfurt 0.53%.
