Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Vila Galé invests €24.4M in new hotel in Minas Gerais

Lisbon, Nov. 11, 2025 (Lusa) - Portugal's Vila Galé group will invest 150 million reais (around €24.4 million) in the construction of a new 312-room hotel in Brumadinho, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, the hotel chain announced on Tuesday.

The new project, which will be part of the Collection brand, was made official last week with the signing of the transfer of a 108,000 square metre plot of land at a ceremony attended by the chairman and founder of the Portuguese group, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, and the mayor of Brumadinho, Gabriel Augusto Parreiras.

Located in the south-eastern region of Brazil, around 40 minutes from Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, the future hotel will overlook the Manso River Dam and will be equipped with restaurants, bars, swimming pools, including one with waves, a lake, a Satsanga spa and areas for events.

"We are the largest resort chain in Brazil, and we have an innovation: country resorts, like our Ouro Preto development and the one in Brumadinho. This new unit of ours will appeal to all audiences, including those from Minas Gerais," said the president of the Vila Galé group.

The city of Brumadinho is home to the Inhotim Institute, a contemporary art museum and botanical garden that is considered the largest open-air museum in Latin America.

"The destination has been establishing itself as an important cultural and tourist centre, with great potential for growth and enhancement," the hotel group added in a statement.

The Vila Galé group manages 52 hotels in four countries: 34 in Portugal, 13 in Brazil, four in Cuba, and one in Spain, totalling more than 11,000 rooms.
