ZAGREB, 14 Oct (Hina) - Croatia’s best badminton player, Jelena Buchberger (19), achieved a major success by winning the Algeria International 2025 tournament, which was held on 9-12 October in Oran, the Croatian Badminton Federation reported.

Buchberger became the first Croatian female player ever to win an international senior tournament. Until now, no Croatian female senior player had claimed a title at the elite level, the federation said.

A member of the Velika Gorica Badminton Club, she also won a silver medal in doubles in Algeria, partnering with Czech player Sharleen Van Coppenolle.

With her excellent result at this Oran tournament which is part of BWF Tour, Buchberger will significantly improve her ranking and move closer to the world’s Top 200 players.
