Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes lower on Friday, in line with Europe

Lisbon, Oct. 31, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower at the end of Friday trading, falling 0.23% to 8,426.96 points, following the European trend, despite a 5.74% rise in CTT.

Of the 16 companies included in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), eight fell and eight rose.

The rises were led by post office operator, CTT, which closed the session at €7.55, after announcing on Thursday that its net profit rose 18.4% in the first nine months of the year, compared to the same period in 2024, to €32.8 million.

This was followed by cement manufacturer, Semapa, which today announced its results, with a 1.23% rise to €18.10, and catering and restaurant company, Ibersol, which rose 1.20% to €10.10.

Also rising were BCP bank (0.82% to €0.77), energy group, Galp (0.55% to €17.40), cork products manufacturer, Corticeira Amorim (0.14% to €7.28), pulp and paper producer, Navigator (0.13% to €3) and telecomms provider, NOS (0.13% to €3.76).

In the opposite direction, civil engineer and construction group, Mota-Engil was the stock that lost the most in today's session, falling 2.36% to €6, followed by retail conglomerate, Sonae, which fell 1.94% to €1.41.

Also closing lower today were electricity and gas network manager, REN (-1.21% to €3.27), EDP Renováveis (-1.17% to €12.68), civil engineer and construction group, Teixeira Duarte (-1.14% to €0.70), celulose fibre and paper manufacturer, Altri (-0.91% to €4.92), energy producer, EDP (-0.87% to €4.31) and retailer Jerónimo Martins (-0.36% to €22.34).

The main European markets closed in negative territory today, with the main indexes in London down 0.44%, Paris down 0.67%, Frankfurt down 0.67%, Madrid down 0.05% and Milan down 0.06%.
