Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes marginally lower, unlike most of Europe

Lisbon, Sept. 18, 2025 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed with slight losses on Thursday, with the PSI index falling 0.05% to 7,726.20 points, bucking the positive trend experienced by its main European counterparts.

Of the 15 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, eight fell and seven rose.

Among the fallers was Corticeira Amorim, which lost 1.47% to €7.38, as well as Navigator, which fell 1.46% to €3.23 and NOS, which fell 1.43% to €3.80.

Also weighing on the national benchmark index was EDP, which fell 1.04% to €3.82, as well as REN, which fell 0.85% to €2.90.

Leading the gains was Mota-Engil, which rose 3.19% to €5.33, followed by Ibersol, which added 2.97% to €10.4 and BCP, which rose 1.07% to €0.72.

Also noteworthy were EDP Renováveis, which rose 0.35% to €9.93, and Jerónimo Martins, which gained 0.28% to close at €21.40.

In Lisbon's general index, Benfica SAD shares remained stable at €6.68 after the announcement of the hiring of football coach José Mourinho.

In the rest of Europe, Paris rose 0.87% and Madrid 0.32%, while Frankfurt advanced 1.35% and London 0.21%.
