Lisbon, April 28, 2025 (Lusa) - Portugal's government has set up a working group to monitor the brownout affecting Portugal from north to south and other European countries and points out that the problem ‘may have originated’ outside Portugal.

‘It was apparently a problem in the transport network, the reason for which is still being identified, apparently in Spain,’ Portugal's cabnet office minister Minister António Leitão Amaro told Lusa.

The minister also said that the government is working together with public and private agents to ‘as quickly as possible’ return the energy supply to normal. However, he did not specify a timeframe.
