ZAGREB, 12 April (Hina) -  A cycling route from Sarajevo through Mostar to Dubrovnik will soon become a reality thanks to a cross-border project funded by the European Union, it was announced on Friday at the 26th International Economy Fair in Mostar, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The initiative is being developed as part of the RomanWinesDanube project, funded through the INTERREG DANUBE 2021–2027 programme, and implemented by the Government Office for European Integration of the West Herzegovina Canton, in cooperation with the HerzegovinaBike Association and partners from Croatia.

The 350-kilometre route passes through the landscapes of Bjelašnica, Lukomir, Boračko Lake, Mostar, and continues to the Adriatic coast and Dubrovnik. The project's aim is to develop cycling tourism as a sustainable and attractive form of travel, blending natural beauty, cultural heritage, wine routes and the region’s adventurous spirit.

Digital promotion of the route is expected in June, when cyclists will have access to all relevant information via an online platform.

The project was highlighted at the forum as an example of sustainable development that connects local communities, nature and the economy – positioning Bosnia and Herzegovina on the map of attractive European destinations for active tourism.
