TIRANA, Jan 17 /ATA/ A 1-year-old child was evacuated from Gaza to Albania for medical treatment.
In a social media post, Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu shared images of the arrival of the young child by plane at "Mother Teresa" International Airport and their transfer to the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital, where the necessary medical care was provided.
Minister Koçiu; Head of the National Medical Emergency Center Skënder Brataj; Director General of the National Agency for Civil Protection Haki Çako and other officials from the Ministry of Interior were present at the airport to welcome the family.
"A family displaced from Gaza has found a safe and welcoming place in Albania. The 1-year-old child, in need of urgent medical care, is receiving medical care from the staff at the University Hospital Centre," Koçiu wrote.
"Thanks to the WHO, the European Union, the Directorate General of the National Agency for Civil Protection, the National Emergency Medical Center and officials from the Ministry of Interior for their contributions to this humanitarian mission," Koçiu announced on social media.
"The child arrived with respiratory problems, which were immediately identified upon arrival. We conducted the necessary exams to assess the severity of the issues. The child is now stable, recovering, and receiving the required treatment. We believe that in a few days, they will be able to leave the facility," said Mirela Kole, Pediatrician.
The child is receiving medical treatment at the University Hospital Center "Mother Teresa," while the father, brother, and sister have been accommodated at the refugee center in Babrru, Tirana. The family is under comprehensive care at the refugee center, where they are being provided with all essential services, including psychological support.
