Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Train services resume after two people flee bridge deck

Lisbon, Jan. 13, 2025 (Lusa) - Rail traffic on the 25 de Abril Bridge, which had been interrupted since 9.50 a.m. on Monday between Campolide (Lisbon) and Pragal (Almada), resumed at 11.05 a.m., "with long delays", said the Fertagus transport company.

The information was published on the railway operator's Facebook page.

According to Fertagus, traffic was interrupted "due to the presence of an individual on the bridge deck".

Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) also told Lusa that the service was suspended due to "the intrusion of two individuals on the railway decl" and has since confirmed that traffic has resumed.

A source from the PSP's Lisbon Metropolitan Command told Lusa that IP had been alerted at 09:50 about the presence of two people on the railway line.

However, according to the same source, "it was not possible to intercept or identify them, as they went down a pillar" and fled.

Fertagus operates the suburban rail passenger service between Roma-Areeiro station in Lisbon and Setúbal station, over a 54-kilometre stretch, crossing the 25 de Abril Bridge.

Infraestruturas de Portugal manages the national road and rail networks, including the command and control of rail traffic.
