The Spanish news agency EFE has been awarded by the Association of Radio and Television Professionals of the Region of Murcia (ARTV) with one of its “Silver Microphones” in recognition of the 40 years of history of EFE office in Murcia (east of Spain).
The award ceremony took place during the gala held at the Romea Theater in Murcia and was attended by the regional president, Fernando López Miras; the delegate of the Government, Mariola Guevara, and other regional and local authorities.
Along with EFE, the “Silver Microphone” was also given to the Chamber of Commerce in its 125th anniversary; the Neurosurgery and Interventional Radiology Service of the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca; the Regional Film Library “Francisco Rabal”; the Pharmaceutical Brotherhood of the Mediterranean (Hefame); the Balneario de Archena; Hida Food, and the UCAM Basketball Club.
In addition, Cope Murcia broadcaster Paula Pascual de Riquelme was awarded the “Antena de Plata 2024″ to the best radio professional; TVE journalist Elena Fernández Jornet was recognized with another antenna to the best television professional; and José Antonio Carrillo, reporter of the same media, received the award to the veteran professional.
“Reacción en cadena”, from the radio station Onda Regional de Murcia and dedicated to scientific information, was awarded as the best radio program this year; while the ‘Silver Antenna’ for the best television program went to ‘Corazón solidario’, from the regional television station 7 Región de Murcia.
The president of the Association of Radio and Television Professionals of the Region of Murcia, José Sánchez, valued the work carried out by all the award winners, which made them worthy of the 38 awards of the association, and recalled that this year, 2024, marks the 60th anniversary of the constitution of the professional association.
The regional president, Fernando López Miras, was in charge of closing the event and in his speech he defended journalism as a tool to guarantee democracy and insisted that without journalists “it is not possible to distinguish what is true from what is not true”, a defense in which most of the award winners agreed in their speeches.
