Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks close lower with benchmark PSI losing 0.51%

Lisbon, Oct. 17, 2024 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market ended Thursday's session lower, with the PSI index falling 0.51% to 6,715.78 points, contrary to the rises registered on most European exchanges.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the PSI index, 12 fell, three rose and one remained unchanged, with EDP Renováveis leading the declines by falling 1.54% to €14.10.

Mota-Engil stood out among the risers for the second day running, advancing 1.30% to €2.65.

In positive territory, BCP rose 0.47% to €0.43 and Greenvolt rose 0.06% to €8.34. Corticeira Amorim ended unchanged (€8.90).

With the biggest falls, Jerónimo Martins lost 1.38% to €17.20, NOS fell 0.95% to €3.63 and REN dropped 0.83% to €2.39.

Similarly, Navigator fell 0.75% to €3.69, EDP 0.63% to €3.92, Galp 0.24% to €16.83 and Sonae 0.11% to €0.94.

In the main European markets, Paris rose 1.22%, Milan 1.09%, Frankfurt 0.77% and London 0.67%, with Madrid closing in the red and down 0.77%, on a day marked by the meeting of the European Central Bank (ECB) which decided to cut key interest rates by 25 basis points.
