Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market bucks European trend, closes down 0.58%

Lisbon, Oct. 14, 2024 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market bucked the gains of the main European markets on Monday and closed with the PSI index down 0.58% to 6,716.78 points.

Of the 16 shares that are included in the stock market's benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Market Index), eight fell, six rose and two ended unchanged.

EDP Renováveis fell 2.51% to €13.96, the biggest drop on the PSI and, in the opposite direction, REN led the risers by advancing 0.62% to €2.41.

Still among the main risers, Galp advanced 0.58% to €17.20. Galp's refining margin fell by 68% in the third quarter compared to the same period last year and fell by 39% compared to the previous quarter, to US$4.70 per barrel, according to a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM) today.

 Ibersol added 0.55% to €7.30 and Altri (€5.18), NOS (€3.60) and Greenvolt (€8.31) ended with gains of less than 0.50%.

Following EDP Renováveis, Navigator lost 1.26% to €3.77, Jerónimo Martins dropped 1.15% to €17.23 and EDP fell 0.91% to €3.83.

Sonae and Mota-Engil fell 0.63% to €0.94 and €2.53, respectively.

Mota-Engil today completed the issue of 2024-2029 bonds linked to sustainability, with demand exceeding €86 million.

"Mota-Engil realised all the objectives it had set itself, as evidenced by the high demand, which led to a significant increase [in the issue] to €80 million," said Mota-Engil's CEO, Carlos Mota Santos.

Semapa (-0.53% to €14.90) and BCP (-0.37% to €0.43) were also down, while Corticeira Amorim (€8.78) and CTT (€4.32) closed flat.

The main European stock markets ended in the green, with Madrid up 1.12%, Milan 1.09%, Frankfurt 0.69%, London 0.47% and Paris 0.32%.
