Lisbon, Aug. 6, 2024 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed down on Tuesday, with the PSI index falling 0.19% to 6,455.97 points, on a day when the main European bourses ended divided between moderate losses and slight gains.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the PSI, 10 were down, three were up and three were unchanged.
Mota-Engil fell the most (-2.57% to €3.26) and Galp led the risers (0.89% to €18.75).
REN (0.64% to €2.35) and BCP (0.14% to €0.36) were also among the risers.
In the opposite direction, CTT dropped 1.44% to €4.09, Jerónimo Martins fell 1.36% to €15.94 and Semapa lost 0.84% to €14.18.
Altri dropped 0.58% to €4.77 and EDP Renováveis fell 0.57% to €14.03.
Corticeira Amorim €8.87), EDP (€3.65), NOS (€3.42) and Navigator (€3.58) ended down less than 0.50 %.
The three companies that remained unchanged were Sonae (€0.90), Ibersol (€6.98) and Greenvolt (€8.30).
In the rest of Europe, the Milan stock exchange fell 0.60%, Madrid lost 0.32% and Paris 0.27%, but London rose 0.23% and Frankfurt rose slightly by 0.09%.
After the panic that marked the previous stock market session, due to fears of recession in the United States, there was still some instability in Europe today.
On the New York stock exchange, the concern seems to have dissipated and the three main indices were still up at the mid-point of the session.
The Dow Jones was up 1.20%, the S&P 500 was up 1.29% and the Nasdaq was up 1.79%.
