Lisbon, July 22, 2024 (Lusa) - Galp's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Filipe Silva, said on Monday that the oil company is preparing to drill the first of four new wells in Namibia and is in preliminary discussions with potential partners.
Galp's profit rose by 23% year-on-year in the first half of this year to €624 million, the company announced on Monday.
‘Regarding Namibia, we have no news to share at this stage,’ as well as “preparing the first of our four new wells for the fourth quarter of this year,” said Filipe Silva, in a call with analysts about the half-year results.
And ‘we are having preliminary discussions with potential partners’, acknowledged the manager, adding that, ‘at this stage, there isn't much’ that Galp can say on the subject.
During the call, Galp's CEO also touched on divestment in Mozambique and said that we need to wait for the next few months.
As for guidance on Capex [investment] for the coming years, he emphasised that this will be known in the coming months.
