Lisbon, July 19, 2024 (Lusa) - Portugal's Tax and Customs Authority has issued a security alert about fraudulent emails, asking that they be ignored.
‘The Tax and Customs Authority (AT) is aware that some taxpayers are receiving emails supposedly from the AT in which they are asked to click on links that are provided,’ the authority said in a note published on its website.
In the note, the AT presents examples of fraudulent notifications in which discrepancies in income tax declarations are pointed out.
‘These messages are false and should be ignored,’ the AT said, adding that their purpose “is to convince the recipient to access malicious pages”.
‘Under no circumstances should you carry out this operation,’ warned the organisation, which recommended reading the information leaflet on information security available on the Finance Portal.
