Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market benchmark index down for third day in a row

Lisbon, July 9, 2024 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed in negative territory on Tuesday for the third consecutive session, with the PSI index falling 0.08% to 6,650.59 points, on a day of sharper declines in the main European markets.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the PSI, eight were up, six were down and two were unchanged.

EDP Renováveis led the declines, falling 1.55% to €13.30, while Greenvolt topped the risers, advancing 1.92% to €8.50.

Among the biggest risers, CTT advanced 1.69% to €4.22 and Jerónimo Martins gained 1.51% to €18.79.

Among the shares with gains of less than 1%, Sonae rose 0.89% to €0.91 and Ibersol 0.87% to €6.98.

On the downside, Mota-Engil lost 1.26% to €3.44, Galp fell 0.87% to €19.86 and Navigator dropped 0.42% to €3.83.

Similarly, EDP dropped 0.39% to €3.53 and BCP fell 0.14% to €0.37.

Corticeira Amorim (€9.49) and Altri (€5.35) were unchanged.

The main European stock markets closed in the 'red' with Paris recording the biggest drop (-1.56%), due to the uncertainty over governance in France, following the legislative elections that gave victory to the left without an absolute majority and with the National Assembly divided into three blocs. Frankfurt fell by 1.28%, Madrid by 1.12%, London by 0.66% and Milan by 0.53%.
