ATA - Llogora tunnel opens for traffic, shortens distances to South coast

TIRANA, July 5 /ATA/ The tunnel of Llogora is open for traffic from Friday. The infrastructural work significantly shortens the distances to the South coast. The tunnel starts 500 meters from the Saint Eliza bridge, which is part of the Orikum-Dukat road.

 

Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, also Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, officials and many residents of the area as well as vacationers participated on Friday morning in the opening ceremony of the LLogora tunnel.

 

The Llogara tunnel has a length of 5.9 kilometers, this tunnel will significantly shorten the travel time to the south coast. This tunnel is one of the landmark works that will forever change southbound travel.

 

The Llogora tunnel consists of two tunnels, the main tunnel and the emergency tunnel. Both the main tunnel and the emergency tunnel have 11 connecting tunnels along their entire length. The depth of the tunnel project line is 1 kilometer from the ground surface.

 

The Llogora tunnel will have a speed of about 80 km per hour. It cuts the distance from Dukati to Palasa from 40-45 minutes to only 7-8 minutes. This investment shortens the way for travelers from Vlora to Palasa, which used to take 1 hour, but now it will take 20 minutes.
