ATA -TIA reports one million passengers in June alone

TIRANA, July 2 /ATA/ – The number of passengers at Tirana’s International Airport (TIA) Mother Teresa has kept increasing, becoming the busiest airport in the region.

 

In June alone, the number of flights increased 61.6% year-on-year, bringing over one million passengers, according to official data.

 

In the first half of the year, the number of passengers rose 65.8% year-on-year to around 4.8 million.

 

TIA reported a record-breaking surge by 40% to over 7.25 million passengers in 2023 and it expects the passengers number to amount over 8.4 million this year.

 

Work on expansion of the airport’s runway kicked off in January to host trans-oceanic flights. First direct flights between Tirana and New York are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
