Lisbon, Sept. 29, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed modestly lower on Tuesday, with the PSI falling 0.48% to 9,666.08 points, as Galp Energia led the fallers and BCP limited more significant losses.

Of the 16 listed companies in the national benchmark index, 12 closed in the red, three in the green, and only EDP Renováveis ended the session unchanged at €12.77.

Galp Energia led the national benchmark index, rising 1.83% to €22.50, while Mota-Engil fell 1.81% to €5.16.

In the pulp and paper sector, Semapa fell by 0.97% to €20.40, Altri lost 0.95%, and Navigator fell by 0.92% to €3.22.

Apart from Galp Energia and EDP Renováveis, amongst the PSI's ‘heavyweights', EDP fell by 0.87% to €4.78, while Jerónimo Martins slipped by 0.66% to €18.

In contrast, BCP bucked the downward trend, rising by 1.03% to €1.22.

Ibersol also closed higher, gaining 0.80% to €10.12, while Teixeira Duarte advanced by 0.61% to €0.50.

In other major European markets, the French CAC-40 fell 0.53%, the British FTSE 100 fell 0.45%, and the Spanish IBEX-35 dropped 0.42%, while the German DAX rose 0.10%.
