Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark off 0.4%, less than European falls

Lisbon, Sept. 9, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Wednesday, with the PSI index falling by 0.38% to 9,445.17 points, in line with the downward trend across the rest of Europe.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), 12 fell, three rose and Corticeira Amorim remained unchanged at €6.98.

Leading the fall was Mota-Engil, which dropped 3.37% to €4.90.

Among the biggest fallers were also CTT, which fell 2.03% to €6.28, Ibersol, which fell 1.78% to €9.96, Teixeira Duarte, which fell by 1.33% to €0.48, and Jerónimo Martins, which fell by 1.25% to €18.19.

Falls of less than 1% were seen in NOS (€4.90), BCP (€1.16), EDP (€4.72), EDP Renewables (€13.14), Sonae SGPS (€2.01), Semapa (€20.70) and REN (€3.49).

Conversely, Galp led the gains, rising 1.42% to €21.39.

Navigator (€3.25) and Altri (€4.72) posted gains of less than 1%.

Elsewhere in Europe, Paris fell by 1.94%, Frankfurt by 1.66%, Madrid by 1.51% and London by 1.31%.
