Lisbon, Aug. 25, 2026 (Lusa) - The PSI, Portugal's main stock market index, was following the trend set by its European counterparts and, after an hour and a half of trading on Tuesday morning, was up 0.43%.
At around 9.30 am in Lisbon, the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) was up 0.43% at 9,432.19 points, with 10 listed companies rising, four falling, and Semapa and Sonae holding steady at €20.75 and €2.02 respectively.
The gains, which continued the trend seen at the opening, were led by EDP Renewables, which rose by 1.48% to €13.70, the only one among the 16 stocks in the index to show a change of more than 1%.
Behind the energy company came Mota-Engil (up 0.98% to €4.55), Ibersol (up 0.79% to €10.18) and REN (up 0.71% to €3.57).
Also posting gains were EDP (up 0.63% to €4.66), BCP (up 0.59% to €1.11), NOS (up 0.57% to €4.92) and Galp (up 0.56% to €21.55).
Corticeira Amorim (up 0.43% to €7.02) and Teixeira Duarte (up 0.10% to €0.48) saw more modest gains.
Conversely, Jerónimo Martins was the biggest loser, falling by 0.66% to €17.96.
Altri fell by 0.21% to €4.76, Navigator fell by 0.12% to €3.29 and CTT fell by 0.08% to €6.47.
The main European stock markets were trading in the black today, following the release of new economic data and whilst awaiting information on the measures to be taken by the United States regarding Iran.
A barrel of Brent crude for October delivery fell by 0.9% to below $92, after it emerged that the United States would impose sanctions on countries that trade with or provide economic support to Iran, although it has not ruled out the possibility of its armed forces attacking targets in the country again.
The euro was trading at $1.1166, around 0.03% below the previous day's close, whilst gold (-0.8% to $4,642 per ounce) and silver (-1.98% to $68.43 per ounce) were trading lower.
