Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark index off 0.33%, REN losing 2%

Lisbon, July 31, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed Friday down 0.33% at 9,116.04 points, bucking the trend seen on most of the major European stock markets, with REN falling 1.99%.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), nine fell, six rose and EDP Renewables remained unchanged at €13.45.

REN was the biggest faller, closing at €3.45, followed by Teixeira Duarte, which fell by 1.61% to €0.49, and Sonae, which lost 1.45% to €2.04. Jerónimo Martins fell by 1.20% to €17.36.

REN posted a profit of €93.4 million in the first six months of the year, an increase of 42.1% compared with the same period last year, it announced on Thursday.

Also closing lower were Altri (down 0.94% to €4.74), Mota-Engil (down 0.90% to €4.63), NOS (down 0.41% to €4.83), BCP (down 0.19% to €1.07) and CTT (down 0.16% to €6.16).

Leading the gains was Semapa, which is today presenting its results for the first half of this year, rising by 1.21% to €20.10, followed by Navigator, which gained 0.62% to €3.26, and EDP, which rose by 0.61% to €4.47.

Also closing higher were Ibersol (up 0.52% to €9.61), Galp (up 0.46% to €19.69) and Corticeira Amorim (up 0.30% to €6.62).

The main European markets mostly closed higher today, with the exception of London, which fell by 0.27%. Paris rose by 0.28%, Frankfurt by 0.07%, Madrid by 0.13% and Milan by 0.13%.
