Lisbon, July 24, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Friday, with the PSI falling by 0.41% to 9,215.11 points, bucking the trend seen on other European markets, with Galp Energia leading the losses, down 4.44%.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, seven closed the week's final session in the red, seven in the green, whilst Jerónimo Martins and Sonae SGPS remained unchanged, trading at €16.81 and €2.05 respectively.
Galp Energia led the PSI's fall, with its shares dropping 4.44% to €20.03, against a backdrop of easing oil prices after the price of a barrel of Brent crude exceeded $100 on Thursday.
Meanwhile, NOS fell by 3.87% to €4.72, a day after announcing to the market that it had recorded a net profit, excluding non-recurring items, of €128.1 million in the first half of the year, an increase of 13.7% compared with the same period last year.
Semapa also saw falls of more than 1%, with its share price dropping by 1.43% to €19.96.
Meanwhile, Navigator's shares fell by 0.19% to €3.13, after announcing that its profits had fallen by 42.3% in the first half of the year to €49.1 million, impacted by the storms in the first quarter and scheduled maintenance shutdowns in the first six months of the year.
Among the ‘heavyweights', EDP was also in the red, with its shares falling by 0.43% to €4.60.
Bucking the trend and managing to avoid more significant losses for the PSI were, above all, BCP, which rose by 1.71% to €1.07, and EDP Renewables, which rose by 0.64% to €14.22.
In addition to BCP, other shares posting gains of over 1% included Ibersol, which rose by 1.62% to €9.42, and Teixeira Duarte, which rose by 1.04% to €0.49.
Among the other major European indices, Spain's IBEX-35 rose by 1.65%, Germany's DAX rose by 1.36%, the UK's FTSE 100 rose by 0.91% and France's CAC-40 rose by 0.88%.
