TIRANA, July 22 /ATA/The Albanian shepherd’s flute, an ancient musical tradition, has gained international recognition following the inclusion of its indigenous sounds in a film project by director Christopher Nolan.

However, according to the Central State Film Archive, the musical tradition had already been documented decades earlier in the 1980 Albanian documentary Where Melodies Spring From, which preserves a valuable record of the country’s traditional music.

The documentary has been digitised in 4K resolution, while this segment was restored by Central State Film Archive specialist Erand Meca, bringing the audiovisual heritage back to life in the highest available quality.

“When our cultural heritage inspires the world, our mission is to preserve it, restore it and make it accessible to present and future generations. Preserving film means preserving memory,” the Central State Film Archive said in a statement.
