Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark up 0.7% driven by Teixeira Duarte

Lisbon, June 22, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Monday, with the PSI rising by 0.72% to 9,168.22 points, driven by gains of over 6% for Teixeira Duarte and over 2% for EDP Renewables.

The 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, nine closed in positive territory and the remaining seven in the red.

Leading the PSI’s gains was the construction firm Teixeira Duarte, which rose 6.24% to €0.53 per share, followed by EDP Renewables, which gained 2.19% to €13.97.

In addition to EDPR, among the heavyweights of the national benchmark index, EDP gained 0.95% to €4.45, whilst BCP rose 1.40% to €1.05.

Also posting gains of over 1% were Sonae SGPS, which rose by 1.42% to €1.99, Mota-Engil, which rose by 1.25% to €4.71, and REN, which gained 1.11% to €3.64.

Conversely, Jerónimo Martins shares were the hardest hit, falling by 1.09% to €17.22, followed by CTT shares, which fell by 1% to €5.95.

In the pulp and paper sector, Navigator fell by 0.92% to €3.45, Semapa retreated by 0.45% to €22.05 and Altri lost 0.40% to €4.95.

On the other major European stock markets, Spain’s IBEX-35 rose by 1.01%, the UK’s FTSE 100 gained 0.72% – on the day that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer resigned – and Germany’s DAX rose by 0.62%. The French CAC-40, meanwhile, fell by 0.25%.
