TIRANA, June 22 /ATA/ The increase in the number of foreign visitors to Albania has also significantly boosted interest in the country’s cultural heritage.
Gjirokastër Castle is one of these destinations, attracting an increasing number of foreign tourists thanks to its historical and architectural value.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that Gjirokastër Castle welcomed its 100,000th visitor for 2026.
The castle continues to remain the most popular monument for both domestic and foreign tour groups during guided visits and travel itineraries in the Gjirokastër area.
The landmark of the city, the castle is located on a hill about 370 meters above sea level.
Gjirokastër, also known as the “stone city,” is one of the most beautiful towns in southern Albania and is part of UNESCO World Heritage.
