Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark index off over 1.2%

Lisbon, June 1, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market led the falls in Europe on Monday, with its main index closing in the red, down 1.27% to 8,960.94 points, and Teixeira Duarte falling by more than 4%.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), 14 fell and only two rose.

Teixeira Duarte led the falls, losing 4.07% to €0.41, followed by BCP, which fell 3.48% to €0.94, and Semapa, which fell 3.16% to €23.

Closing down more than 2% today were Mota-Engil (2.99% to €4.61), Sonae (2.83% to €1.85) and Ibersol (2.54% to €11.50).

Corticeira Amorim fell by more than 1% (1.99% to €6.41), NOS (down 1.71% to €5.18), Jerónimo Martins (down 1.49% to €17.89), CTT (down 1.24% to €5.99) and Altri (down 1.11% to €4.90).

REN (down 0.85% to €3.51), Navigator (down 0.76% to €3.38) and EDP (down 0.76% to €4.33) also closed in negative territory.

Galp and EDP Renováveis were up, rising 1.82% to €18.98 and 0.21% to €14.20, respectively.

The main European markets closed lower today, with London down 0.68%, Paris 0.45%, Frankfurt 0.40%, Madrid 0.97% and Milan 0.52%.
