Lisbon, May 15, 2026 (Lusa) – The Lisbon stock market closed in the red on Friday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) falling 1% to 9,033.06 points with EDP Renováveis dropping 4.03% and its parent company, EDP, down 2.82%.
Of the 16 companies listed on the national benchmark index, 13 closed in negative territory and only three recorded gains.
Companies linked to the EDP group led the PSI losses: subsidiary EDP Renováveis dropped 4.03% to €13.59, while the parent company fell 2.82% to €4.28. Still in the energy sector, REN fell 1.95% to €3.52.
In the construction sector Teixeira Duarte lost 1.53% and Mota-Engil fell 1.03% to €4.81.
The paper pulp sector saw Navigator retreat 1.87% to €3.35, while Semapa fell 0.43% to €23.00 on the same day the company presents its first-quarter results to the market.
Galp Energia bucked the trend and prevented a sharper decline, ending the final session of the week up 1.91% at €19.72.
Lisbon followed the sentiment of other major European markets, which recorded heavy losses: the German DAX fell 2.07%, the British FTSE 100 dropped 1.71%, the French CAC-40 lost 1.61%, and the Spanish IBEX-35 retreated 1.05%.
